What’s New?
A complete overhaul has been made to the Ram 1500 for the new year. The truck's exterior styling offers minor tweaks like new lighting elements, wheel designs, and a freshened color palette. Meanwhile, the interior features upgraded tech like a large 12.0-inch touchscreen, an optional 14.5-inch display, and optional 10.3-inch passenger-side screen.
Additionally, the Hemi V8 is no longer offered and in its place is a new twin-turbocharged inline-six with either 420 or 540 horses. There are also a new range-topping trim called the Tungsten and it offers quilted-leather upholstery, massaging seats, and a 23-speaker Klipsch stereo.
Exterior/ Interior Design
The new enhancements to the Ram 1500's exterior offers a less boxy design in favor of a more modern look. As is the case with most crew cabs the interior is exceptionally spacious offering solid interior storage options and a unique split-folding tailgate.
The cabin is also highly functional thanks to its cubby storage with higher trims offering upscale materials and creature comforts for a more luxury feel. Performance
Powering the new Ram 1500 are three powertrains each as powerful as the last. The first three trims use a 3.6-liter V6 that's assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system to output 305 horsepower. The Laramie and Rebel us a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder to produce 420 hp. While the remaining trims use the more the same turbocharged 3.0-liter engine to crank out an impressive 540 hp.
With this much power available, you'd be right to assume the Ram 1500 has great hauling and towing capabilities. In testing, it was found that the Ram 1500 has a maximum towing capacity 11,580 pounds and a payload cap of up to 2,300 pounds.
Technology
Ram trucks are known to have one of the best infotainment systems and connectivity features in their class. This trend continues for the new model year, as the Ram 1500 now features a more responsive 12.0-inch touchscreen and an optional 14.5-inch unit.
